Das Forschungsprojekt alt narratives lädt zur Premiere ihres neuen Kurzfilms GRUMPY FISH ein.

Im Korallenriff herrscht große Aufregung, als ein ungebetener Gast in Form eines alten Turnschuhs auftaucht. Die Meeresbewohner sind alles andere als begeistert von dem störenden Objekt. Mit viel Witz, Sarkasmus und Grant beginnt eine Debatte über Umweltverschmutzung und die Auswirkungen von Plastikmüll auf ihr Zuhause. Inmitten der Diskussion entsteht eine futuristische Idee: Zelluloseschuhe, hergestellt aus Bakteriengewebe, könnten die Lösung sein. Das umweltfreundliche Material besitzt lederähnliche Eigenschaften und ist biologisch abbaubar. Die Möglichkeiten eröffnen Anwendungen, die weit über die Herstellung von ökologisch nachhaltigen Schuhen hinausgehen. Das Projekt alt narratives verfolgt mit originellen Ansätzen und unkonventionellen Erzählstrukturen das Ziel, komplexe wissenschaftliche und künstlerische Forschung einem breiteren Publikum zugänglich zu machen. In enger Kooperation mit Wissenschaftler*innen und Projektverantwortlichen der Kunstuniversität Linz sowie der Johannes Kepler Universität wird Wissenschaftskommunikation neu konzipiert und herkömmliche Modelle des “Erklärfilms” hinter sich gelassen, um einen Raum für vielschichtigen und kreativen Austausch zu eröffnen. Der aktuelle Film von alt narratives, GRUMPY FISH, beruht auf dem FWF Peek Projekt „Fashion & Robotics“ und dem EU-Projekt „BioCombs4Nanofibers“ und wurde von LAS GAFAS realisiert.

The research project alt narratives invites you to the premiere of their new short film GRUMPY FISH.

Great excitement reigns in the coral reef when an uninvited guest appears in the form of an old trainer. The sea creatures are anything but enthusiastic about the disturbing object. With a lot of wit, sarcasm, and grumpiness, a debate begins about pollution and the impact of plastic waste on their home. In the midst of the discussion, a futuristic idea emerges: cellulose shoes made from bacterial tissue could be the solution. The environmentally friendly material has leather-like properties and is biodegradable. The possibilities open up applications that go far beyond the production of ecologically sustainable shoes.  

 With original approaches and unconventional narrative structures, the alt narratives project aims to make complex scientific and artistic research accessible to a wider audience. In close cooperation with scientists and project managers from the University of Arts Linz and the Johannes Kepler University, science communication is being reimagined, leaving behind traditional models of “explanatory film” in order to open up a space for multilayered and creative exchange. The current film by alt narratives, GRUMPY FISH, is based on the FWF Peek project “Fashion & Robotics” and the EU project “BioCombs4Nanofibers” and was realized by LAS GAFAS.
