Am 8. Jänner um 19.30 Uhr begrüßen wir zur Vorpremiere im VIKTORIA in Wien. Die große Premiere des Kurzfilms dürfen wir schließlich am 9. Jänner um 16 Uhr im Moviemento Linz feiern. Im Anschluss an das Filmgespräch laden wir zum gemeinsamen Sektempfang, der Eintritt ist selbstverständlich frei. Mit spannenden neuen Ansätzen und einer etwas anderen Erzählweise zielt das Projekt alt narratives darauf ab, hochkomplexe wissenschaftliche und künstlerische Forschung auf die Kinoleinwand zu bringen und einem breiteren Publikum zugänglich zu machen. In enger Zusammenarbeit mit Forscher*innen und Projektleiter*innen der Kunstuniversität Linz soll Wissenschaftskommunikation dabei vollkommen neu gedacht werden, um Strukturen des klassischen „Erklärfilms“ zu überwinden und ein breites Feld des kreativen und multidimensionalen Austauschs zu eröffnen. Der aktuelle alt narratives Film, Dizzy Izzy, basiert auf Forschungsarbeit von Senior Scientist Dr.in Sarah Kolb und wurde von Shari Ehlers, Thomas Guggenberger und Lisa Prast, Absolvent*innen des Studiengangs Zeitbasierte und Interaktive Medienkunst an der Kunstuniversität Linz auf die Leinwand gebracht.Ausgehend von mathematischen und philosophischen Konzepten der Relation, Transformation und Non-Orientability untersucht der wissenschaftliche Animationsfilm Dizzy Izzy, inwiefern ein Donut sich äquivalent zu einer Kaffeetasse verhält und warum ein Kunstwerk als Prozess mit offenem Ende betrachtet werden kann. Konfrontiert mit einer Reihe an unerwarteten Begegnungen bahnt sich Izzy einen Weg durch den eigenartigen Kosmos Topologien der künstlerischen Forschung.

We would like to invite you to the Vienna and Linz premiere of our new animated film Dizzy Izzy! On January 8 at 7.30 pm we welcome you to the preview at VIKTORIA in Vienna. Finally, we will celebrate the big premiere of the short film on January 9 at 4 pm at Moviemento Linz. Following the film discussion, we invite you to a reception with sparkling wine, admission is of course free. Using exciting new approaches and somewhat different story telling, the alt narratives project aims to put highly complex scientific and artistic research on screen, making it accessible to a wider audience. In close collaboration with researchers and project managers at the University of Arts Linz, science communication is completely rethought to overcome structures of the classic „educational film“ and open up a broad field of creative and multidimensional exchange. The current alt narratives film, Dizzy Izzy, is based on research by senior scientist Dr. Sarah Kolb and was brought to the screen by Shari Ehlers, Thomas Guggenberger and Lisa Prast, graduates of Time-based and Interactive Media Arts at the University of Arts Linz.

Drawing on mathematical and philosophical concepts of relation, transformation and non-orientable spaces, the scientific animation film Dizzy Izzy explores why a donut can be equivalent to a coffee cup and how an artwork can be seen as an open-ended process. Being confronted with a series of surprising encounters, Izzy tries to find their way through the peculiar universe of Topologies of Artistic Research.
